A new report released by the Office of Insurance Regulation found that insurers’ use information
such as income and education level to determine auto insurance rates.
OIR started questioning the use of education level and occupation as far back as 2004 and asked
the insurance companies to stop using such criteria. The insurers argue the use of such data is
legal and that statistics for these criteria and auto loss.
The report is being scrutinized by state lawmakers in Tallahassee and could lead to bills
